What Are Common Spring RV Camping Problems?

When you take your RV out in the spring, there’s a range of common problems you may encounter. With the right preparation, you’ll be ready to tackle them so they won’t affect your trip.

Mosquitoes

These pesky buggers are plentiful in the spring. Bring along insect repellent to deter them, especially when you’re hiking in their area. It never hurts to pack along itch-relief cream in case, despite your best efforts, someone still gets bitten.

Rain

For most of the places you’ll visit, spring is the rainy season. You may get lucky and enjoy an RV trip without any downpours or drizzles, but it’s best to be prepared. Every traveler should have waterproof boots and clothing so they can still go outside without the moisture making them cold and uncomfortable.

Changing Trails

Winter takes its toll on hiking trails. Trees fall, snow causes erosion, trail markers have fallen without replacement, and other changes to the trail happen in the colder months. Trails can even be re-routed or closed due to obstacles. Always look for updated spring trail information before heading out on them. It’s also wise to budget extra time to complete a hike given the chance of obstacles or change of route.
